Next Sunday is Mother's Day and in addition to a traditional bunch of flowers and a lie-in we are recommending our top choice of special books, perfect when paired with a sentimental note about sharing time together.  The beauty of our collection is that it inspires adults and kids alike, anyone with an appreciation for nice things will be touched by the thought and sold on the illustration and quality.  We are also offering FREE GIFT-WRAPPING for all orders placed by the 4th March.

We have two tiddlies of our own who are very demanding at story-time, we use these books regularly in our own home so it is nice to be able to tell you all a bit more about them.  The books that make the cut are all loved by the kids which means they are loved by us, it's true that whatever makes them happy makes you happy.

First up is a beautiful book that is a lifelong keeper.  A gorgeous story about a lion who swaps his rural life for the excitement of the city looking for a place to call home. Will he find it or remain alone!?  Of course we can expect a happy ending between these amazing oversized pages and whilst we find it we can enjoy the incredible collage style illustration of multi-award winning children's author/illustrator Beatrice Alemagna.  Love it!!!  £12.99, buy it here.

Next up is one that our reception starter loves and we always have fun using our magic hands to create something exciting.  Herve Tullet is respected the world over for his creativity and long list of best-selling non-fiction kids' books.  Press Here requires you to engage with your inner child as you follow the instructions and see the transformations taking place as you turn the pages.  Press, blow, shake your way through the pages and have a chuckle together. £10.99, Buy it here.  Also check out the sequel Mix it Up.

It is no secret that we love the work of Alice Melvin and Grandma's House is not only a best-seller but one of our all-time favourites.  The rhyming story tells of a little girl moving through an intricately illustrated house searching for her Grandma.  We love the cut-outs to peer through and pages to open up, not to mention the way you get a feel for Alice Melvin's own childhood.  It's nostalgic and sentimental and the perfect book to curl up with.  If you like this one then also see The High Street, hard to choose between the two! £12.99, buy it here.

As adults we have fond memories of reading Where's Wally and this interactive masterpiece by Hiro Kamigaki and IC4Design is the modern equivalent with added oomph.  Pierre the Maze Detective needs to stop Mr X from stealing the Maze Stone, and readers have to trace their way through 15 intricate mazes to stop him.  There are clues to spot and mystery challenges hidden amongst the magical worlds of cities, tree-tops and haunted houses.  One maze will take some time so it is the ideal sharing book! £XX Buy it here.

Another clever book from the brilliant team at Patrick George, When I Grow Up has alternating acetate pages that move change the image from one side to the other.  A great talking point for kids who dream of being pilots, zoo keepers or a superhero, one quick turn of a page and the job is theirs.  We love all of Patrick George's books and all the feedback points to their originality and innovation.  Check out the rest of our collection now. £8.99.  Buy it here.
