Before our shop opened up for business we had a chance to sell at the Horniman museum's spectacular annual Christmas fair (a brilliant south london haunt). We always visit with our kids for the carol singing and mulled-wine drinking but last year we took a stall and it was absolutely brilliant. Not only did I get to spend a weekend with my husband without the kids, but we also got to speak to people about what they liked and didn't like which is obviously a massive bonus because selling online sadly suffers from that lack of face to face nattering. We met loads of lovely people and we sold a ridiculous amount of stock, selling out of most of our books and a fair number of prints too. The support was amazing and the buzz was really exciting, it turns out that there are a lot of adults who share our love of children's books and we got chatting to so many enthusiastic customers. Whether it reminds you of a nostalgic memory of books from your childhood or you get a kick out of the illustrations and paper art as an adult, people love books and that is great! Sadly many people wanted to buy from us once our stock was sold but our website was still in the tinkering stages but hopefully they will check us out now!
