Books are the gateway to imaginary journeys, enlightenment, connection between carer and child and educational development. The National Literacy Trust reports that four out of ten children on free school meals cannot read well by age 11 which has a devastating impact on their future prospects.

Each year London based charity Little Village holds a Christmas present campaign, and this year the focus is on books. Little Village and Smallprint have teamed up to ask for your generosity in giving a new book to the many children who pass through their doors, to offer both a happy Christmas and a gift that keeps on giving.  Our special book edit takes into account that many of these children won't have any books so they are all fun, lively and silly, designed to share a smile.  Simply place an order as normal, there are no delivery charges as Smallprint and Little Village will arrange shipping direct.

A bit about the charity: Little Village is like a foodbank, but for clothes, toys and equipment for babies and children up to the age of 5. Little Village makes it as easy as possible for families to help one another, and it promotes sustainable living by recycling items which may otherwise be thrown away. There are three Little Village sites - in Kings Cross, Balham and Peckham, and the charity has served families from 29 of London’s 31 boroughs from these sites. Around 42% of children in London are living in poverty where families struggle to feed themselves and heat their homes. Yet one in five of the families Little Village sees have a parent in work and are still in these shocking circumstances.
